Luke Barnatt set for UK return against Rafael Silva

5th January 2016

Luke Barnatt set for UK return against Rafael Silva at BCMMA #14

Following on from a successful return to the cage at Venator earlier this month where he picked up the Middleweight title, Luke Barnatt (9-3) is set to make a quick turn around and fight again in February. Fighting in the UK for the first time in almost two years Barnatt will square off against Rafael Silva (40-15) on the now stacked BCMMA 14.

Barnatt got back to winning ways at Venator FC 2 on December 12th in his first fight since he left the UFC. That night he really had to dig deep to pick up the fourth round submission victory when on more than one occasion he looked like he was about to be finished himself. After a performance like that nobody can ever question the heart of Barnatt and he proved to any doubters that he is a true warrior.

Barnatt has never lost on home soil as a professional and will be hoping he can make it two wins on the bounce and this record stays intact come fight night. His opponent in February Rafael Silva has fought all over the world including a recent stint with ONE Championship and although he wet 0-2 under that banner he has won eight of his last ten fights and is a tough test for anybody at 185lbs.

With over half of his wins coming via Submission Silva has proven he has a great ground game, this could prove to be his best chance of picking up the win in February. BCMMA’s promoter Jack Mason had the following to say about the fight and as you can imagine he is delighted to put this fight together.

“BCMMA are extremely happy to have been able to secure the services of Luke “Bigslow” Barnatt for BCMMA 14. This is a huge coup for the show and Barnatt joins fellow UFC veteran John Maguire on the card alongside some of Europe’s best and of course our local talent.

Bigslow is fresh off a big win at Venator FC having claimed the Middleweight championship over there in a tough battle.  This next bout at BCMMA 14 is no easy fight either as he faces Rafael “The Machine” Silva (40-15) who resides in Portugal and is himself a ONE FC veteran and has big wins on his record against top competition such as former Cage Warriors FC champion Pavel Kusch.

Barnatt vs Silva is a fantastic fight pitting two of Europe’s top Middleweights and big show veterans in one of our feature fights. We expect this to be a big draw for the card and will be a big treat for the BCMMA fans, hopefully it will bring some new fans to the show too.

20th February 2016 can’t come soon enough!!
